A Thousand Miles to Freedom: My Escape from North Korea by Eunsun Kim

A Thousand Miles to Freedom: My Escape from North KoreaA Thousand Miles to Freedom: My Escape from North Korea by Eunsun Kim

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Eunsun is a very inspirational and strong woman. I can't even imagine going through all the hardships she went through in order to escape from North Korea. Her and all the other people who have escaped horrible dictatorships, war-torn countires, etc deserve as much, if not more, as what South Korea is willing to give refugees.
It was very eye-opening to see that there were some North Korean citizens who looked down on people who escaped to North Korea, and this reminded me of ignorant people in the US and all over who do the same.
Immigrants/refugees are usually running from something. Violence, poverty, gangs and drug cartels, etc.
Eunsun's autobiography is truly eye-opening on the great things countries are doing for people when we take people in and on how absolutely horrible living in North Korea under a dictatorship really is.
Although a bit repetitive at times, this book was a quick read that I didn't want to put down.
