Thoughts: SPOILER ALERT

 
One star. Ugh.
I may be a bit biased because Max reminds me of a fuckboy I spent 3 weeks talking to and wanting to Want to get away from him. And then I couldn't put this awful ass book down either.


I honestly gagged numerous times when it came to how Max/Torment texted or spoke. When he opened his mouth just no. Was he supposed to sound illiterate on purpose?? And it wasn't just the texts. Their baby talk or sweet talk to each other...just...no.


The storyline was very cheesy but I can give it Too Much Unpredictability.
Sarah Castle tried to fit EVERYTHING but the kitchen sink into this book. A little bit of BDSM (that Makayla was deathly afraid of and she cried about but "oh! she was turned on so she's just lying to herself.")


Her past abuse (which the author made her keep hiding from her new boyfriend, which kept making her scared of MOST of the kinks he'd want to try and even during kink-free sex she'd still slip into a flashback and almost become dissociated.)
His past and the reason for his tattoos;all his failures.
There was even some kidnapping thrown in there. What?! Why!?


And then the ultimate CHEESE.

Max thinking like a possessed, rabid man, that every single man in every place wants Makayla.
Him thinking he had the right to stalk her Mr. Grey style while not even trying to officially make her "his girl" until she was almost auctioned off at a charity event to another man HALFWAY THROUGH THE BOOK!!
All his co-workers are supposed to be scared of him? In both workplaces? The gym by night and his office by day? Which makes him a night fighter who still has time to run an office, and be the boss of said office which makes him a millionaire?
